BIO:

Kathy Friend is a Stylist, Image Consultant, Writer and Speaker. She serves as the President of the Style and Image Institute where she shares her passion by training others who want tocreate a career as a Stylist and Image Consultant.

 

Her Personal Stylist and Image Consulting business includes men, women, kids,teenagers, corporations, universities, political campaigns and celebrities.

 

As a Fashion Psychologist, Kathy has a unique ability to merge one’s true personality to theirimage. Her methods come from over 15+ years of training with leaders in the image, style andfashion industry. Kathy’s career includes working on both sides of the camera and of  the runway. Her resumeincludes; design team associate for a leading American designer, sales rep for a Los Anglesbased women’s clothing brand, fashion show production, commercial styling and retail cosmetic management.

 

Kathy’s commercial styling experience includes projects for Redbook Magazine, Wal-Mart and Kenmore. She has styled and acted as Art Director for photo shoots for the boat, manufactured housing and recreational vehicle industry.Kathy has been a part of several ventures in Hollywood; styling looks for the red carpet, reality and talk TV show She has also trained with Shari Brandel, and is a Certified Image Consultant through her CIC program.

 

Kathy writes for several magazines and has appeared on radio and television shows as a fashion expert; she served as a TV news segment reporter WSBT TV, WNDU TV and FOX59, and had a regular weekly fashion segment with WFRN radio.

 

Since 2007, Kathy has been the Fashion Guru for Goodwill Industries of Michiana. As such, she provides "Image for Job and Interview Readiness" workshops, in-store fashion shows and event, and produces 3 large fund-raising fashion shows annually. Her partnership with Goodwill proves her belief that style does not have to be expensive.

 

When Kathy isn't speaking, consulting or training she is spending time with her daughter, Anya.

“Style is an expression of who you are – an extension of your personality. Projecting the best image possible makes a person a better friend, spouse, parent, employee and above all – a better leader.”

 

Background

At the age when most young girls were dressing up their dolls, Kathy dressed up and styled her friends. Her childhood memories include helping her mother choose new clothes at Milady Shop in Mishawaka, IN and inviting classmates to her home to give them a "make over". In college, Kathy developed a rental system for formal-wear that allowed her sorority sisters to "check-out" dresses for various events. 

 

Kathy earned a BS Degree from Indiana State University and MBA Degree from Davenport University. Her professional background includes being a buyer for boutiques, designer representative, consultant and corporate executive. Her experiences incorporate a unique blend of advertising, media and fashion.
